Smelt dinner

CEDAR — The Cedar Rod & Gun Club will host its 54th annual smelt dinner on Friday, April 4.

The meal will be served from 3-8 p.m. at the Solon Township Hall. The cost is $11 for adults and $5 for children.

OTP Studio Theatre play

TRAVERSE CITY — The Old Town Studio Theater will stage Keith Huff’s police drama “A Steady Rain.”

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 4-5; and Thursday through Saturday, April 10-12 and April 17-19. A matinee will be presented at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 13. The Studio Theatre is located at The Depot, Woodmere Avenue and East Eighth Street.

Tickets are $15 each and available at the OTP box office, by calling 947-2210 or at Remaining seats will be on sale at The Depot one hour prior to performances.

Community Cinema

TRAVERSE CITY — “Medora” is the next film in the Community Cinema Series at Northwestern Michigan College.

The 2013 documentary follows the Medora Hornets varsity basketball team over the course of its 2011 season, capturing the players’ stories both on and off the court. The film will be shown at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in Milliken Auditorium at the Dennos Museum Center, 1410 College Dr., and will be followed by a panel discussion.

Peepers program

TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Conservation District’s Peepers preschool program for children ages 3-5 continues in April.

The program meets from 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays at the Boardman River Nature Center, 1450 Cass Road. Topics for April are: “The Birds are Back” April 1; “Ducks in a Row” April 8; “Hoppy, Floppy Rabbits” April 15; “Exciting Earth” April 22; and “Buzz, Buzz, Buzz” April 29.
