Set our goals high

Bravo to your editors for supporting the Northport 100 percent renewable energy goal. Michelangelo once said, “The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.”

Having our own excellent local public utility, Traverse City Light & Power, makes goal-setting something in which all of us have a stake. The opportunity to burn less coal, pollute our lakes less and to keep our energy economy local, is a win-win all the way around. Let’s set our Traverse City goals for renewable energy high.

Clean up after pets

Recently my friend and I were walking our dogs at the Civic Center. As we walked the mile around, it was very evident some dog walkers are not picking up after their pets.

The Civic Center is enjoyed by walkers, joggers and dog walkers. Let’s be responsible for our pets and clean up after them and make it pleasant for everyone.

The world will suffer

Regarding Ted Nugent’s remarks about President Obama, of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I respect that. But, Ted has lost all credibility with me and I suppose a lot of others.

He promised to be dead or in jail if President Obama was elected to a second term. I held Ted to his word. Now he has reneged on his promise. Too bad, now all the political world as well as the animal world will suffer.
