Traverse City West posted a pair of convincing wins to win a Division 1 baseball district title on Saturday.
The Titans (24-4) beat Marquette 14-0 in the semifinals and Alpena 10-2 in the championship game.
Walter Borkovich threw a four-hitter with six strikeouts in get the win in the finals. Collin Bush and Max Ludka each had two hits and drove in a total of three runs to lead the West offense.
In the first game of the day West had a huge showing at the plate. Donny Cizek, Will Reed, Bush, Borkovich, Geordan Carter, Keegan Kenny and Jared Roth each collected two hits. Reed, Kenny and Trent MacDougall each drove in three runs. Bush added two RBIs.
Ludka and Wes Talbot combined on a two-hitter with five strikeouts.
Alpena got to the championship game after eliminating TC Central 15-2.
The Trojans (9-14) had two hits and an RBI from Ethan Pilarski and an RBI hit from Jansen Shea.
West advances to next week's regional at Saginaw Valley State against Bay City Western.
Glen Lake wins Division 4 district title
Travis Moore's RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the sixth scored Trevor Apsey and allowed Glen Lake to beat Suttons Bay 4-3 in a Division 4 baseball district championship game.
The final was a pitchers duel between Glen Lake's Thomas Waning and Suttons Bay's Jake Kiessel.
Waning allowed three hits and struck out 12. Kiessel struck out nine, walked three and allowed only two hits. Tristan Williams and Riley Scanlon each had RBIs for the Lakers (25-7), who host next Saturday's regional against the winner of the Central Lake district.
For Suttons Bay on offense in the final, Aaron Orban had two hits and two RBIs. Kiessel added a hit.
Glen Lake cruised to a 9-2 win over Lake Leelanau St. Mary in the semis. Zach Cooper scattered five hits, walked one and fanned four. Waning hit a three-run homer and Dale Pleva added a two-run homer. Austin Odziana had a double among his two hits and two RBIs. Scanlon had two hits as well.
