TRAVERSE CITY — More than 1,600 people attended Downtown Traverse City Association’s 20th annual Downtown Chili Cook-Off and cast ballots for their favored fare in categories that included the overall “People’s Choice” award, as well as 1-Alarm, 2-Alarm, 3-Alarm, Seafood, Vegetarian, Ethnic, No Bean and White.
Minervas won the People’s Choice award for their White Chili.

n 3-Alarm — Workshop Brewing Co.
n Seafood – Scalawags Whitefish & Chips

n Ethnic — Harbor 22
Competing restaurants included:

DTCA officials said revenue totals from the annual fundraiser will be calculated this week. The event raised $12,000 in 2013.
All proceeds from the event help support such Downtown community activities as Friday Night Live, the Halloween walk, holiday activities and many other free downtown events throughout the year.
