TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse City Area Public Schools will host Kindergarten Information Meetings at area elementary schools. Principals and teachers will be on hand to answer questions, take families on school and classroom tours and help parents enroll their children for the 2014-15 school year. Camera Club meets
TRAVERSE CITY — Jason Hamelin from the Camera Shop and Todd McMillan from Instant Framer will be the guest speakers at the Thursday, Feb. 20, meeting of the Traverse Area Camera Club.
The group will meet at 7 p.m. at The Presbyterian Church, 701 Westminster. Hamelin and McMillan will share ideas on how to prepare images to submit to a professional printer, how to select a paper or canvas for striking results, and how the image can be processed in a variety of ways for mounting and presentation.

Master class for singers
HARBOR SPRINGS — Serious singers ages 12-19 are invited to audition for a master class for young singers presented by Broadway and film star Franc D’Ambrosio.
Auditions will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22. Singers must provide their own accompanist. Three singers will be selected from the auditions to participate in the class, which will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 9, at the Harbor Springs Performing Arts Center.

Music ‘On the Porch’
TRAVERSE CITY — Sleder’s Family Tavern will continue its “On the Porch” concert series with the Crispin Campbell Quartet.
Cellist Campbell will headline a group featuring flutist Nancy Stagnitta, guitarist Angelo Meli and bassist Glenn Wolff. The quartet will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at Sleder’s, 717 Randolph St.

‘Grass River Shiver’
BELLAIRE — A “Grass River Shiver” snowshoe race will take place Saturday, Feb. 22, at Grass River Natural Area, 6500 Alden Highway.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. followed by the race at 10 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for 5K and 10K winners. Registration is $20 in advance; $25 on race day. LELAND — Blues musicians Reverend Raven and the Chain Smokin’ Altar Boys from Wisconsin will headline the Blues at the Bluebird benefit for the Leelanau Conservancy.
The event on Saturday, Feb. 22, starts with a buffet dinner at 6 p.m. at the restaurant, 102 River St., followed by the concert at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 each and proceeds benefit the land preservation programs of the conservancy.

KALKASKA — The Kalkaska County Library will reprise its popular boiled wool mittens class taught in November by Jenny Yost.
The class will meet from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at the library, 247 S. Cedar St. The $10 class fee includes materials. Class size is limited and registration is required.
