Laura Wilson, of Traverse City, was busy getting herself and her daughter ready for a birthday party when a knock on the door signaled the best part of her spring weekend.
Laura answered the door to find seven young men dressed in West Senior High School Titan football jerseys with smiles on their faces and rakes in hand. One of the young men, Cody, introduced himself and explained that he and his fellow team members were going door to door on her street offering their clean-up services for any lawn chores that needed to be done ... free!
"Given the fact I am the queen of procrastination when it comes to seasonal chores ..., this was a most welcome visit," Laura wrote. "The boys quickly staked out their sections of our lawn (and) in no time at all, the yard was cleaned up and I was on my way to the birthday party! I offered them cash for their efforts, but I was told they were not able to accept it, that it was 'their way of helping the community.'
"Thank you so much guys! Your polite and friendly attitude was a cheerful reminder of how great our small town of Traverse City is and what a wonderful place it is to raise our families."

"This once-in-a-lifetime experience was enjoyed by everyone and the Daisy Troop would like to thank all those involved in making this a memorable experience for the girls (including) Daisy Chain President June Musser, members, Anita Swan, Maggie Sommerfeldt, Louise Schroeder, June Benedict, Alice Bushong, and Gean Sladek; Elks Club Manager Al Jarosz, head server Teri Kuhlman, and Elks Club members Stanley O. Simons and Richard D. Kies," the troop wrote.
