Kerri Hamilton, of Traverse City, would like to thank Vic Dunbar, who came to her aid after she fell in the parking lot at the Grand Traverse Mall.
Kerri was walking to the mall carrying her 7-month-old grandson, Noah, when she caught her foot on the edge of a pothole. Kerri said she had about "two seconds" to think about which way to fall so she wouldn't land on Noah.
As she lay on the ground with Noah in front of her, in pain and barely able to move her leg, three people walked right past without stopping to help. Then Vic came running from Garfield's Restaurant.
"He helped me get the baby into the restaurant," Kerri wrote. "He called my daughter and helped me get into her car. I want to thank him for all the help he gave Noah and me that day. He is truly a Good Samaritan. I ended up with a broken ankle, but Noah was just fine."

Dianne Walker wrote on behalf of students, coaches, parents and organizers to thank the owners of Pizza Hut in Traverse City for supporting the Ninth-Tenth Grade Math Challenge for the past 18 years.
"Over the years, thousands of students have spent a Saturday in March working on hard math problems, thinking as a team on solving a theme problem and racing against other schools in a relay math-a-thon," Dianne wrote. "Halfway through the day, the kids were treated to lunch by Pizza Hut. For some it was the best part of the day. Every year, Pizza Hut donated enough pizza for all of the teams and coaches. Every year for 18 years!!"
Dianne isn't sure of the reason, but participation has been dwindling and this year only seven teams competed. So this year's Math Challenge was the last one for the foreseeable future.
"This year was the (end) of an era -- but without Pizza Hut's support and encouragement ... we could not have enticed students to travel to Traverse City from all over the state to participate ...," Dianne wrote. "Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts and stomachs for your 18 years of support."
Dianne closed this year's competition with a challenge to the participants. She told them that she hopes someday one of them will create and organize a math challenge for future students.
"When one of them does, I bet Pizza Hut will be there to provide the lunches," she wrote.

"A special thanks to the Plummer family for a great day and also to those who spread the word, brought a friend and supported the Munson Hospice program," the letter stated.
