Snyder gets bad grades, runs even with 2 Dems

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A new poll shows likely Michigan voters giving Gov. Rick Snyder bad grades on his job performance and shows the Republican running about even with two potential Democratic challengers not even recognized by most voters.

The Detroit Free Press says Lansing-based EPIC-MRA found majorities of those it polled don't recognize the names of ex-U.S. Reps. Bart Stupak of Menominee and Mark Schauer of Battle Creek.

Still, 39 percent say they'd back Schauer and 38 percent Snyder were they facing off in an election now. Snyder gets 39 percent and Stupak 38 percent in a hypothetical matchup.

The April 13-16 phone poll has a 4 percentage point margin of sampling error.

Thirty-eight percent give Snyder positive job ratings and 58 percent negative. Forty-two percent view him favorably and 46 unfavorably.
