Michigan spared weather woes for Thanksgiving

Other states feel more weather woes

DEARBORN — Michigan travelers were finding minimal trouble embarking on their Thanksgiving destinations despite nasty weather snagging holiday plans elsewhere.

An estimated 1.3 million Michigan residents hitting the road, rail or air were finding largely dry conditions but cold temperatures in the state.

That contrasts with bands of ice, sleet and rain barreling over the mid-Atlantic and Northeast — though they weren’t causing widespread delays or cancellations beyond the region to other parts of the network.

Pat Wilson of the Detroit suburb of Novi was thankful to be spared travel trouble as she waited to board a Chicago-bound train at Dearborn’s Amtrak station. She says the three-generation family train trip was inspired by her 9-year-old granddaughter.
