Bricks from MSU building to be sold

EAST LANSING — Red bricks from a 113-year-old Michigan State University building that’s being demolished this year are being salvaged and some will be made available to the public for sale.

Chris Barnes, a construction representative for the East Lansing school, said some bricks from Morrill Hall will go into storage for future use and about 1,100 will be sold to the public for $35 each.

“This is something that people have requested,” Barnes said.

Cruise ship will stay in Marquette

MARQUETTE — The Isle Royale Queen III, the cruise ship running summer trips from Marquette’s Lower Harbor, will now call the city home.

This spring, in preparation for the cruise season ahead, the boat’s port of call was changed to Marquette.

Carmody started operating the 81-foot cruise ship last year, overseeing daily cruises to Partridge Island and back.
