Detroit toughens rules on relationships
DETROIT — Detroit Mayor Dave Bing has issued an executive order toughening the city's rules on workplace relationships.
The move Friday comes after sex scandals caused a pair of police chiefs to lose their jobs in recent years.
Earlier this week, Angelica Robinson, a police officer who had a sexual relationship with former Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee, filed a lawsuit against him and the city claiming sexual harassment.
A message seeking comment was sent by The Associated Press to the mayor's office.
Godbee resigned Oct. 8. He has apologized for setting a bad example through his sexual relationship with Robinson that forced his resignation.
City laws already prohibit sexual harassment, but Bing says his executive order goes further.
