---- — BLOOMFIELD HILLS (AP) — Knights and Barons are becoming Black Hawks in a suburban Detroit school district.
The end of the school year means the end of Andover and Lahser high schools in the Bloomfield Hills district. In September, students will merge into one school called Bloomfield Hills High. They’ll be known as the Black Hawks.
While a new school is built, grades 10 to 12 will gather at the old Lahser site. Classes for about 400 freshmen will be held at a different location.
Some students say it will feel strange. Sydney Toundaian tells The Detroit News she’ll still wear her Andover sweatshirt. Lahser football player Kenny Binion believes the new team will be better with athletes from the two schools.
A groundbreaking took place Friday.
