Toddler who drowned in Lake Mitchell ID'd

CADILLAC — Authorities have released the name of a young boy who died after being pulled from the waters of a lake in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula.

Crews responded Monday evening to a report of a drowning on the northwest shore of Lake Mitchell in Wexford County..

Authorities say 20-month-old Arend Jack-Thomas Wagasky, of Grand Haven, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

His family was spending time at a summer home near in the Cadillac area, and he was initially identified as being 2 years old in sheriff’s reports.
