Man charged with murdering boy, 1

YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP — Authorities say a 34-year-old Ann Arbor-area man has been charged with murdering his girlfriend's 1-year-old son.

AnnArbor.com says Chase Miller died Sunday in Washtenaw County's Ypsilanti Township.

The Detroit Free Press says Michael Curtiss was arraigned Thursday on an open charge of murder and ordered jailed without bond. His preliminary examination is scheduled Nov. 6.

It's unknown if he has a lawyer.

Authorities say the toddler died of blunt force trauma to the head.

Priest is in rehab; hearing delayed

DEARBORN — A judge on Thursday postponed a hearing for a priest accused of driving naked and drunk in Dearborn this summer because the priest is at a Pennsylvania rehabilitation center receiving treatment.

The pretrial hearing for the Rev. Peter Petroske of Sacred Heart Parish in Dearborn was adjourned until Dec. 27. Dearborn District Judge Richard Wygonik approved the postponement sought by defense lawyer Edward Zelenak and over the objections of a city attorney.

"He's in a lock-down facility," Zelenak said of Petroske, a longtime Detroit area priest. "It's not as if he's thumbing his nose at the system."

Man accused of killing 3-month-old daughter

TROY — A suburban Detroit man has been charged with murder, accused of killing his 3-month-old daughter by blunt force to the head.

Twenty-five-year-old Kenneth M. Little was arraigned Thursday on an open count of murder. He's jailed without bond until his next court appearance Monday.

Defense lawyer Richard Lustig tells WXYZ-TV that another child may have killed the girl.

Police say they were called to a home about 2 a.m. Monday and found Kendalyn Little unresponsive on a rug in a basement bedroom.

Authorities say efforts to revive her failed, and she was declared dead at a hospital.
