DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) -- Some government, business and educational leaders want people to think about ways Michigan's water resources can play a significant role in the state's economic recovery.
An event Tuesday in Dearborn is titled "Blue Economy: Turning Michigan's Fresh Water Into Renewed Prosperity." Prospects for "green jobs" have gotten lots of attention recently, but organizers say people also should think "blue."
Panelists were to include Michigan's Lt. Gov. John Cherry as well as representatives of the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, the Michigan Economic Development Corp. and Midland-based Dow Chemical Co.
The event is presented by the Engineering Society of Detroit, WWJ-AM and the University Of Michigan-Dearborn.
