Parents get prison in son's death

MOUNT CLEMENS -- A Sterling Heights couple have been sentenced to prison for letting their 20-month-old son die and operating a methamphetamine lab from their home.

Twenty-nine-year-old Tina Boughner and 27-year-old Andrew Young pleaded guilty in May to involuntary manslaughter and drug charges.

Macomb County Circuit Judge Diane Druzinski sentenced them Tuesday to between five years, 11 months and 15 years in prison for manslaughter.

Young also was sentenced to between six years, three months and 20 years on the drug charge.

Defense attorneys say the sentences were too harsh and their clients may appeal.

The Detroit News says Wyatt Young was found dead of dehydration and malnutrition in July 2007.
