Thousands still without power after storms

Tens of thousands of customers remain without power after thunderstorms swept across Michigan's Lower Peninsula earlier this week.

Consumers Energy says about 55,000 homes and businesses that it serves were without electricity Friday afternoon.

The subsidiary of CMS Energy Corp. expects to restore power to most customers by Saturday evening, but says parts of Calhoun, Kalamazoo and Kent counties might not have service until Sunday.

About 2,000 DTE Energy Co. customers were without power Friday morning, but electricity was expected to be restored later in the day.
