UPDATE: TC Central girls win state ski title

BOYNE FALLS — The Traverse City Central girls ski team is simply the best.

Central captured a Division 1 team state ski championship today at Boyne Mountain. The Trojans' Shannon Weaver led the way, finishing second in both the slalom and the giant slalom.

Traverse City West's Monica Hessler won the individual state title in the slalom, while TC West's Finley Clark won the the boys slalom.

UPDATE: In Division 2, Petoskey swept both the boys and girls state crowns. It is the third straight championship for the Northmen boys.

Elk Rapids/Traverse City St. Francis freshman Carlee McCardel won the individual championship in the girls giant slalom, finishing more than one second faster than her nearest competitor.
