SWCC to hold fall banquet and raffle

BRETHREN — The Spirit of the Woods Conservation Club will hold its 2013 Annual Fall Banquet and Raffle on Sept. 28 at 6 p.m.

A chicken dinner with all the trimmings will be served for $10 per person. Raffle prizes includes a CVA muzzle loader with scope, Fenwick fishing rod with Pflueger reel and a $50 Traks Bar & Grill gift card.

The event will be held at the SWCC clubhouse on Coates Highway, and guests can walk/hike the club property trails prior to the dinner.

131s to hold tryouts Sept. 28

TRAVERSE CITY — The 131s travel baseball program will be holding tryouts for the 2014 season on Sept. 28 at Traverse City Central High School’s varsity field.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the tryout beginning at 9:30 a.m. for ages 14-18 as of April 30, 2014. The tryout and will consist of both skills evaluations and live scrimmage games.

There is no charge to try out, and program information will be available on site. For further information, call 935-1842.

Pickleball results

TRAVERSE CITY — Three teams came out on top at the second annual Pickleball Tournament at the Senior Center Network Pickleball Courts.

At this tournament, the first-place team — with a score of 120 — was Becky Klein, Mark Cohen, Tricia Haase and Mike Bandowski. The second-place team with a score of 118 was Sandy Blake, Bob Buryta, John Kelley and Pat Haber. The third-place team with a score of 114 was Bill Costley, Brian Blake, Carla Olds and Fran Alfs.
