Lions' QB to be in TC Polar Plunge

TRAVERSE CITY — Detroit Lions quarterback Drew Stanton will be among those taking the Polar Plunge at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa on Feb. 11 to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics athletes.

To take the plunge, participants need to make a minimum $75 donation and dress in a "crazy" costume.

Registration is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the resort clubhouse. It will be followed by the parade of costumes and then the plunge at 11 a.m. into a pond on The Bear Golf Course. A post-plunge party and awards ceremony will follow.

Stanton is a long-time supporter of Special Olympics Michigan. He will also be in attendance during the State Winter Games, which are Feb. 7-10.

Those interested in taking the plunge can pre-register online at or on site the day of the event.
