Prep Sports Roundup: Trojans blank Petoskey in soccer

TRAVERSE CITY — Ryan Haworth scored a goal in the first half and Isaac Russell added one in the second half as TC Central blanked Petoskey 2-0 in a Big North Conference soccer contest Thursday.

Matt Grost and Owen Stratton had assists on the Central goals. Carl Gardner made four saves in goal. Defensively, the Trojans were led by Kurt Frick and Dillon Drossart, while Stratton helped control play at midfield.

The Trojans (6-3-1, 4-0 Big North) host Auburn Hills Avondale on Saturday.

TC West 5

Gaylord 0

Cam Sipple had a hat trick in leading TC West over Gaylord, 5-0.

Sipple scored once in the first half as the Titans (3-4-1, 3-0 Big North) held a 1-0 lead at the half. He added two more in the second half as the Titans ran away with the win. Christien Geiger and Ty Troxell had the other West scores. Nico Ragel-Wilson had two assists, and Lucas Meyer and Austin Sanders also assisted.

Justin Kraft made five saves in goal in the first half and Noah Withey added three saves in the second half.

West travels to Grand Blanc on Saturday.

Buckley 2

Benzie Central 1

Demian Allen scored two goals near the midpoint of the second half as Buckley rallied for a 2-1 victory over Benzie Central.

With Benzie leading 1-0 at the half, Allen tied the score in the 55th minute and added the game-winner five minutes later. Isabel Vermilya and Bryce Guernsey assisted the goals. In net for Buckley (2-1) was Tyler Welch with 13 saves.

Suttons Bay 3

Glen Lake 1

Suttons Bay scored in the final second of the first half and added two more goals in second half to beat Glen Lake 3-1 and get its first win of the year.

Trailing 1-0, the Norsemen tied the game on a goal by Chris Jasinski off a throw-in by Logan Mikesell right before the half expired. Suttons Bay took the lead 15 minutes into the second half when Jason Winowiecki scored off a pass from Miguel Calderon. Mikesell added a goal on a penalty kick with five minutes remaining.
