---- — 5K to benefit Rainbow of Hope
KINGSLEY — The second annual Rainbow of Hope Farm 5K run and two-mile run/walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 14.
Races start at 10 a.m. Pre-registration, which includes a T-shirt, is $25 for the 5K and $15 for the two-mile and can be done by calling 218-3469. Registration the day of the run remains $25 and $15, however there is no guarantee of a T-shirt.
Rainbow of Hope is located seven miles south of Kingsley at 1951 County Line Road. Proceeds from the run help enrich the lives of people with disabilities living at Rainbow of Hope. More information can be found at www.rainbowofhopefarm.weebly.com.
Deadline Tuesday for flag football
TRAVERSE CITY — The registration deadline for the YMCA fall co-ed flag football program is Tuesday.
The instructional program is designed for girls and boys new to the sport of football as well as those not quite ready for tackle football, who want to learn how to play the sport. All games are officiated. Each team is coached by volunteer parents and community members with a focus on participation and sportsmanship. Each team will have one built-in evening practice followed by one game a week.
The six-week league is offered to children in grades 2-5. The program begins the week of Sept. 16 and ends Oct. 25. For more information call 933-9622 or visit www.gtbayymca.org.
Softball league deadline nears
TRAVERSE CITY — The registration deadline for the YMCA fall softball leagues is Tuesday.
The YMCA offers co-ed and men’s leagues. Games are played at the Civic Center. Play begins next week.

Women’s hoops league starting up
TRAVERSE CITY — The YMCA women’s fall basketball league season will run from Sept. 15 to Nov. 3.
The registration deadline is Tuesday.
The league is for high school girls and women. There will be a round robin format played on Sunday evenings at Traverse City area gymnasiums. There is a $400 team sponsor fee.
Cedarville MudRun Sept. 28
CEDARVILLE — The second annual Cedarville Jersey Mud Run is slated for Sept. 28.
The first wave starts at 1 p.m. on the 5K muddy obstacle course. There will be a quarter-mile kids fun run, too.
Packet pickup is on Friday, Sept. 27 at Ang-Gios restaurant and race day at Taylor’s Pit.
