TC West, St. Francis fall

The two Traverse City schools that qualified for the football postseason both lost their first-round games tonight.

In Division 1, Traverse City West went on the road to No. 3 Rockford and played the Rams close in the first half, trailing 3-0 at halftime. But the Rockford offense came alive in the second half, as the Titans wound up losing 19-0.

In Division 7, Traverse City St. Francis was locked in a defensive battle in the first half with No. 4 West Iron County, heading into the break tied at 0-0. But Wykons' quarterback Andrew Peterson scored three touchdowns in the second half, leading West Iron County to a 21-7 victory.
