Frankfort and Cadillac win, East Jordan falls in quarterfinals

The Frankfort Panthers are moving on to play in the state semifinals after defeating Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart 47-44 tonight in a Class D boys basketball state quarterfinal played in Cadillac.

Brandon Schaub scored the game-winning basket for the Panthers with 5.4 seconds left in the game. Schaub finished the night with 13 points, all scored in the second half, and teammate David Loney added 22 points.

Frankfort next plays No. 1 Southfield Christian on Thursday in East Lansing at Michigan State University's Jack Breslin Student Events Center.

In Class B action, Cadillac also advanced to the state semifinals by beating Big Rapids 55-49 in overtime. The Vikings will play Benton Harbor on Friday at 6 p.m. in East Lansing.

And in a Class C quarterfinal, No. 3-ranked Negaunee beat East Jordan 63-42.
