Toxic Cherries to hit the road

TRAVERSE CITY — The Toxic Cherries will travel to Rivertown Sports in Grand Rapids on Jan. 26 to play the G-Rap Attack.

In this first game of the 2013 away season, the Toxic Cherries will battle G-Rap Attack's 4-6 2012 home record. Doors open at 5 p.m. and game time is 6 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased online at Brown Paper Tickets or at the door on game day.

Grass River Shiver slated for Jan. 26

BELLAIRE — The Grass River Shiver 5-10K snowshoe race, part of Winterfest day, will start at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. at the Grass River Center

Race registration is $15 in advance, $20 on race day

Call the Grass River Office at 533-8314 to register.

Fat Chance bike race set for Jan. 20

TRAVERSE CITY — The Fat Chance fat bike race to be held Jan. 20 at Crystal Mountain Resort.

The 1970's disco-themed event is the first of four races scheduled for the Northern Michigan Fat Bike Series in 2013.

Although the course is designed for fat bikes, any off-­road style bike is allowed. Race categories include men's and women's fat bikes, mountain bikes and two-­person relay teams.

Starting at noon, participants will ride for two hours on a four-­mile groomed trail. The most laps determines the winners. For more information or to register, visit www.nmfbs.com, or call Einstein Cycles at 421-8148.
