GRAYLING — Gaylord had a major advantage at the free-throw line Monday in a 51-49 win over host Grayling.

The Blue Devils were 21-for-29 from the line while the Vikings (5-2) were just 4-for-6.

Zach Lundell had 24 points for Gaylord while Tyler Frish had 18 points.

Grayling trailed 51-45 late, but cut it to 51-49 and had the ball with 6.6 seconds remaining. Jake Swander finished with 19 points, Justice Juntilla had 10 points and Tyler McClanahan added eight points.

Grayling is at Boyne City on Friday.


Onaway      52 Wolverine      14

Mariah Ehrke had a double-double as Onaway earned a 52-14 non-conference win over Wolverine.

Ehrke had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Cardinals (9-2), who led 38-8 at the half. Erica Price and Ashley LeCurex each kicked in 10 points.

Onaway is at Johannesburg-Lewiston on Wednesday.

Petoskey      57 TC Central      27

Kelsey Ance and Megan Tompkins accounted for 40 points as host Petoskey beat TC Central 57-27 in Big North Conference action.

Ance had 22 points, nine rebounds and four steals for the Northmen (8-2, 4-1 BNC) while Tompkins added 18 points and seven rebounds. Petoskey jumped out to a 9-0 lead to start the game and never looked back.

TC Central (2-6) had 10 points from Tyler Rawlings.

The Trojans won the JV game 40-19 behind seven points from Jane Leahy. TC Central's freshmen also won 40-16 as Abigail Green scored 10 points.

Manistee      39 TC West      25

Manistee got off to a good start and held off visiting TC West for a 39-25 non-conference win.

The Chippewas led 13-4 at the end of the first quarter.

The Titans (3-7) had eight points from Kelsey Boudjalis while Katie Placek had 10 rebounds.

TC West won the JV game 43-29 as Carley Drzewiecki scored 19 points.

The Titans host TC Central on Friday.

Elk Rapids      49 Frankfort      34

Elk Rapids picked up a 49-34 non-conference win over Frankfort.

The Elks (5-3) had 13 points and 11 rebounds from Rachel Hintz while Paige Granger had 12 points. Brittany Trout kicked in seven points and five steals.

Elk Rapids is at Lake Leelanau St. Mary's today.

Gaylord      54 Grayling      32

Gaylord topped Grayling 54-32 in non-conference action.

Alex Simmons had 18 points for the Blue Devils while Mackenzie Edwards scored 17.

For Grayling, Sam Denno had 11 points while Maddie Benardo had 16 rebounds.

Joburg      51 Mio      36

Johannesburg-Lewiston picked up a 51-36 win over Mio.

The Eagles had 20 points, 13 rebounds, eight steals, four assists and three blocks from Abby Schlicher. Madison Showerman had 10 points, three steals and three assists while Haley Weaver had nine rebounds and Katelyn Weaver had eight points and six boards.

Joburg hosts Onaway on Wednesday.

Bellaire      58 Ellsworth      33

Bellaire held Ellsworth to one point in the fourth quarter for a 58-33 non-conference win.

The Eagles (6-2) led 45-32 going into the final period.

Katie Thornton had 18 points and four rebounds for Bellaire while Miranda Washburn had six points, eight rebounds and four steals. Leighton Koepke scored eight points with four assists.

Ellsworth had 16 points and 11 rebounds from Kari Steenwyk.

Onekama      48 Buckley      42

Buckley had three girls foul out in the fourth quarter in a 48-42 loss to Onekama.

The Portagers had 16 points from Hailey Kott.

Jordyn Barley had 15 points and nine rebounds for the Bears while Marlee Harris had 16 points and seven rebounds. Clarice Pahl also had nine rebounds.

Buckley hosts Kingsley on Friday.

Lake City      45 Mesick      20

Lake City (7-3) snapped a three-game losing streak with a workmanlike 45-20 victory over visiting Mesick.

Senior center Buffy Buttis blistered the nets for 21 points to go with nine rebounds and seven blocked shots for the Trojans. Junior guard Maggie Eising made eight points with nine rebounds, five assists and four steals while Laraiah Schichtel scored five and Crystal Pendergrass grabbed five rebounds.

Sophomore Ashley Trowbridge tallied six to lead the Bulldogs (0-9) and Clara Jurik scored five.
