Cadillac turns aside Alpena; Glen Lake powers past Leland

GAYLORD — Traverse City West went on the road to register a 57-46 Big North Conference win over Gaylord on Friday.

The Titans were coming off their first league loss to Petoskey.

Kendrick Meyer led the Titans (6-3, 4-1) with 14 points and seven rebounds. Donny Cizek added 11 points, four rebounds and two assists. Johnny Wheelock pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

Tyler Frisch netted 18 points for Gaylord.

Gaylord won the JV game 55-41. Thiyo Lukusa had 11 points and Nick Brzezinski 10 for West (3-6, 1-4).

Cadillac     57 Alpena     50

Jalen Brooks scored 18 points as Cadillac defeated Alpena 57-50 in Big North play.

Luke Cordes topped Alpena with 15.

Glen Lake     56 Leland     36

Mike O'Brien scored 24 points as Glen Lake upended Leland 56-36 in Northwest Conference play.

Leland (3-3, 2-2) led 15-12 after the first quarter before the Lakers pulled away.

Carter Lee added 16 points for the Lakers.

Ian Duval paced Leland with 14 points. Austin Fellows had nine.

Leland, playing without the injured A.J. Whittaker, hosts Kingsley on Thursday.

Elk Rapids     44 LL St. Mary     29

Elk Rapids led by just two at half before pulling away to a 44-29 non-league win over Lake Leelanau St. Mary.

Shay Somers, Austin McMullen and Eddie Shaw all had 10 points apiece for the Elks (5-3), who host Glen Lake on Tuesday.

Drew Pobuda paced St. Mary with 17.

TC Christian     69 Northport     50

Traverse City Christian put three players in double figures en route to a 69-50 Cherryland Conference win over Northport.

Paul Bump netted 17 points, Kevin Mannes 16 and Kris Crosby 15 in the win. Crosby also grabbed 10 rebounds for the Sabres (4-4, 2-0), who host Onekama on Monday.

Bill Stowe scored 26 points for Northport.

GT Academy     43 Grace Baptist     42

Max Boothroyd had 14 points, five blocks and four steals to lift Grand Traverse Academy to a 43-42 overtime win over Grace Baptist.

Mitchell Drilling added 10 points for the Mustangs (3-4), who travel to Cadillac Heritage Christian on Tuesday.

Rob Hunley scored 16 for Grace Baptist.
