Prep Sports Roundup: TC West beats TC Central

TRAVERSE CITY — Jessica Kalbfleisch scored three goals Monday night as Traverse City West defeated Big North Conference soccer rival Traverse City Central, 4-1.

Maria Rapson also tallied, off a Kalbfleisch assist, for the Titans (8-5-3, 5-1-2), who led 1-0 at the break. Sophie Lutz scored for Central (5-10-1, 3-4-1).

Savanna Wojtanowski had six saves in goal for West.

The Trojans won the JV game 4-3. Jennifer Rose netted the game-winner with 5:20 left. Central (5-6-1) led 3-1 at the break before rallied to tie it at 3-3. Rose finished with three goals and Abigail Stanton one for the Trojans.

Emily Walton netted two goals and Sarah VanSipe one for West (6-3-4).


TC Liberty 3

Kalkaska 0

Three different players scored goals as the Traverse City Liberty shut out Kalkaska 3-0 in Lake Michigan Conference play.

Brin Forlenza, Rikke Foss and Kristin Jarvis scored goals.


Elk Rapids 8

East Jordan 0

Elk Rapids improved to 9-1 in Lake Michigan Conference play with an 8-0 win over East Jordan.

Andrea Pilon and Michelle Costa scored two goals each and Carley Patterson, Hailey Patterson, Jordan McNamara and Mylia LaPointe each had one goal for the Elks (10-1-1, 9-1 LMC).


Charlevoix 8

Boyne City 0

Hannah Herboldsheimer scored two goals as Charlevoix defeated Lake Michigan Conference rival Boyne City 8-0.

Elizabeth Way, Kylee Scholten, Lily Matchett, Devon Bottomley, Katie Kiteley and Bailee Stevens also scored for the Rayders (12-5, 9-2).


Glen Lake 5

Suttons Bay 1

Kyra Surber had a goal and two assists, and Clare Slack scored two goals as Glen Lake defeated Suttons Bay 5-1.

The victory wrapped up a Greater Northwest Soccer Conference championship for the Lakers (7-6-1, 6-0-1 in the league) with one league game remaining.

Ty Fessell and Alex LaCross also found the back of the net for Glen Lake. For Suttons Bay, Mariah Belluomini scored a goal.


Leland 6

Burt Lake NMC 0

Leland outshot Burt Lake Northern Michigan Christian 17-7 and came away with a 6-0 victory.

Whitney Schaub and Libby Munoz each had two goals for the Comets (13-4). Lydia Gulow and Aurelia Guest also scored.
