Alpena JV 1

TC Central’s junior varsity gold team won the top three singles matches and all four doubles matches on Tuesday in a girls tennis dual against Alpena.

Central’s winners were: Emma Sheldon at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-4; Shaina Kalbfleisch at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-3; and Maxine Valesano at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-3.

At No. 1 doubles, Becca Revette and Megan Moomey won 6-1, 6-2. At No. 2 doubles, Taylor Robbins and Melissa Lance won 6-0, 6-0. At No. 3 doubles, Jane Leahy and Ashley Hulet came up with a 6-3, 6-2 win. The No. 4 doubles team of Aubrey Krueger and Annie Botsford took a 7-5, 6-2 victory.

The Trojans host Manistee today.

GIRLS TRACK

TC West 96

Petoskey 40

Traverse City West won all four relay races in an 86-40 dual-meet win over Big North Conference foe Petoskey.

The 1,600 relay team of Allida Smith, Kimmy Bilinski, Quinn Hall and Kate Melvin won in 4:27, while the 400 team of Hannah Carlson, Bilinski, Smith and Mattison Mokanyk took first in 53.5 seconds. The 800 quartet of Carlson, Smith, Bilinski and Patricia Davis won in 1:53.3, and the 3,200 team of Amanda Fouchey, Jessica Gockley, Melvin and Corinne Schrotenboer ran a 10:55 to win.

Mokanyk won the 110 hurdles in 17.74 and Olivia Bishop took the 300 hurdles in 50.62.

Bishop won the high jump at 5’ as the Titans took the top four spots, and Hall cleared 7’ to take the pole vault.

Smith claimed the 100 in 12.71, Melvin the 400 in 1:05.8 and Gockley the 800 in 2:34.4.

West returns to action in Friday’s Ken Bell Invitational at TC Central.

BOYS TRACK

Petoskey 34.33

Spencer Montcastle and Tyler Johnson both had a pair of individual firsts, and both helped the winning 400-meter relay team as TC West’s boys track team beat Petoskey on Tuesday.

Montcastle won the 110 hurdles (15.25) and the 300 hurdles (41.84), while Johnson was first in the 400 (51.2) and 200 (22.68). Those two joined Brandon Montgomery and Dan Montgomery on the 400 relay (44.49).
