Hounds' Krejcik, Rogowski snag awards

TRAVERSE CITY — The Hounds keep sniffing out awards, adding two more to their season haul.

Goaltender David Krejcik and forward Patrick Rogowski won player of the week awards from the Midwest Junior Hockey League.

Krejcik won the weekly goaltending award for the fourth time. He’s also won two Goaltender of the Month honors and leads all MWJHL goalies with 12 wins, a 1.63 goals-against average, a .943 save percentage and four shutouts.

Rogowski won the league’s Rookie of the Week award, his second time time earning the honor.

He had an assist in each of Traverse City’s wins last weekend against the Soo Firehawks. Overall, Rogowski has nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points in 21 games.

HOUNDS ADD ANOTHER CZECH PLAYER: Krejcik and Adam Jonak have another countryman on the roster of the Traverse City Hounds.

The Hounds have added Premsyl Synek, an 18-year-old Czech Republic skater who can play both center and defense.

Over the weekend in Traverse City’s two-game road sweep of the Soo Firehawks, Synek (6-3, 205) had his debut with an assist while playing as a forward.

This weekend, first-place Traverse City (16-3-0-2) travel to Northern Lights Arena to play the Alpena Street Cats in a two-game series. Game times are 9:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights.
