Blazejewski earns GLIAC honors
TRAVERSE CITY — Lake Superior State senior forward Maria Blazejewski (Benzie Central) has been named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Player of the Week following her 51-point performance at last weekend's University of Southern Indiana Thanksgiving Classic.
Blazejewski averaged 25.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2 assists per game to lead LSSU, which lost both games at USI. She scored a career-high 32 points during Saturday's 76-75 loss to Bellarmine and 19 points during a 64-51 loss to undefeated USI on Sunday.
A pre-season all-GLIAC first-team honoree, Blazejewski shot 53.3 percent from the field and hit 17-of-20 free throws. It was Blazejewski's first time hitting the 30-point single-game benchmark.
Lake Superior opens GLIAC competition Thursday at Findlay.
