Hounds add TC West hockey player

TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Hounds have added local player Clayton Dowling to the team for the 2013-14 season.

Last season, Dowling spent a season with the Lansing Senators Midget AA squad, and also played for Traverse City West during the 2011-12 season.

Still with two years of high school remaining, Dowling figures to be one of the MWJHL’s youngest players this fall.

 

TC West to host Camp of Champs

TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City West Camp of Champs will be held July 29-31 for junior varsity and varsity football players.

Camp for players in grades 10-12 runs from 8-11:30 a.m. daily at West Senior High, while grades 7-9 go from 6-8:30 p.m. at West Middle School.

West to host 10-team tournament

TRAVERSE CITY — Ten football teams will face off Saturday in a passing tournament.

Elk Rapids, Lake City, Frankfort, Suttons Bay, Kingsley, Manistee and Farwell will join Traverse City Central and two squads from TC West at Thirlby Field and TC West Middle School.

The tourney starts at 10 a.m. and concludes with a championship game at 1 p.m. at Thirlby Field.

 

Fishtown 5K set for July 20

LELAND — The Fishtown Preservation Society will conduct its 5th Annual Friends of Fishtown 5K on July 20.

The race starts at 9 a.m. in downtown Leland. Participants may run or walk. Strollers and leashed dogs welcome.

Race proceeds will help the Fishtown Preservation Society continue its work in Fishtown. Cost of registration is $25 before July 20 and will increase to $30 the day of the event.
