McBain falls in overtime

MCBAIN — McBain sophomore point guard Meredith Hamlet drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime but it was visiting Big Rapids prevailing 65-57 on Thursday in non-league action.

McBain trailed 50-47 in the final seconds of regulation when Hamlet took an inbound pass from Haley Koetje and nailed the trey.

Hamlet finished with 21 points to lead the Ramblers in their opener. Junior guard Maddie Barnette hit for 13, including three treys, and sophomore forward Keiana Westdorp tallied seven.

Kendra Enszer scored 23 for Big Rapids, which made 13-of-16 free throws in the overtime. Taylor Leach scored eight of her 11 points in the extra session.
