MANTON — Behind Parker Guss’s score of 77, Traverse City St. Francis won a Division 4 boys golf district championship in convincing fashion on Thursday at Emerald Vale in Manton.
The Gladiators finished with a team score of 327, which was 13 strokes better than Suttons Bay’s 340. Leland (341), Manton (380), Frankfort (382) and Glen Lake (391) rounded out the other regional qualifiers.
Riley Lamie (81), Ryan Navin (83) and Noah Phillips (86) completed the scoring for St. Francis.
Devin Capron carded a 77 to lead Suttons Bay. The Norsemen also had a pair of 87s from Lars Thornton and Chris Jasinski and an 89 from Mason Rohrback.
Leland’s Joel Sneed was the meet medalist with a 74. The Comets also received an 84 from Cam Stowe, a 90 from Cole Prevost and a 93 from Austin Fellows.
Manton’s counters were Spencer Sucharski (81), Jesse Taylor (96), Kyle Paddock (100) and Kainen Rose (103). For Frankfort, Tristan Rogers led the way with an 83 and was followed by Bennett Schmitt (96), Maisie Nugent (100) and Pearce Pomerleah (103).
Glen Lake’s total came from an 86 by Kyle Schaub, a 98 by Kyle Kulanda, a 102 by Mac Ewing and a 105 by Wade Peplinski.
Mesick’s Alex Stanton qualified individually with an 80. Other qualifiers included Bryson Waller (82) and Taylor Makowski (94) of Bear Lake, Zachary Redman (95) of Lake City, Joseph Nelson (95) of Manistee Catholic Central and Dylan Lucas (96) of McBain Northern Michigan Conference.
Kingsley’s Tim Tallman qualified for next week’s Division 3 regional. He shot a 90 in the district at Manistee.
