Prep Sports Roundup: West sweeps Ogemaw Heights

TRAVERSE CITY — John Sheehan captured four events Wednesday as Traverse City West beat Ogemaw Heights 128-28 in a Big North Conference track meet.

The meet was delayed 90 minutes by rain.

As a result, the pole vault and 3200 events were not held.

Sheehan claimed the 110 high hurdles (16.6), 300 hurdles (46.01), long jump (19-2) and high jump (5-8).

Jack Bishop swept the sprints, winning the 100 (11.38) and 200 (23.92) while Tommy Roush took the throws, winning the shot put (49-9.75) and discus (156-6).

In addition, Nick Hirschenberger claimed the 1600 (4:43.15) and Calvin Hilt the 400 (56.54).

Bishop teamed with Zach McGuire, Dan Phifer and Octavion Waugh to win the 400 (44.78) relay. Bishop, McGuire, Phifer and Grant Ellison took the 800 (1:37.2) relay.

Zach Okma, Alex Tokie, Luke Sawusch and Hilt won the 1600 relay (4:01).

TC Central sweeps Alpena, Cadillac

Cam McAuliffe won the 800 (2:01.98) and 1600 (4:29.95) while John Piatek took the shot put (55-7.25) and discus (159-5) as Traverse City Central beat Cadillac (106.5-43.5) and Alpena (108-42) in a Big North double dual.

The meet started after 5 p.m. because of rain. The pole vault and long jump events were not held due to slippery conditions.

Devante Walker celebrated his 15th birthday by winning the 100 (11.87) for the Trojans.

Anthony Berry claimed the 3200 (9:53.56), Alex Hu the 110 hurdles (15.91), Josh Belcher the 300 hurdles (41.45) and Spencer Kroupa the high jump (6-0).

Central won three relays — Zac Blake, Sean Williams, Taran Lutes and Hu in the 400 (46.65); Walker, Drew Girard-Pampou, Rhys Adle and Belcher in the 800 (1:34.90); and Marco Morcote, Chris Brower, Zach Hankins and Berry in the 3200 (8:31).

Cadillac and Alpena tied 76-76 in the other dual.

Ogemaw Heights 33

Kimmy Bilinski won the 200 (27.9) and 400 (1:01.9), Paris Wagner the shot put (30-1.5) and discus (106-5) and Olivia Bishop the long jump (15-2) and high jump (5-0) as Traverse City West beat Ogemaw Heights 108-33 in a Big North Conference meet.

West won 14 of 15 events. Two events — pole vault and 3200 — were not held.

The Titans also picked up wins from Sara Sievers in the 100 hurdles (17.7), Quinn Hall in the 300 hurdles (54.8), Allida Smith in the 100 (13.49), Jessica Gockley in the 800 (2:31.5) and Amanda Fouchey in the 1600 (6:17). West captured the 800 (1:57.1), 1600 (4:45) and 3200 (11:17) relays.
