TCJGA announces scholarship winners

TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Junior Golf Association (TCJGA) has announced its college scholarship recipients for 2014.

The college scholarship program, which began in 1994, has awarded more than $250,000 in educational funds to the TCJGA members over the last 20 years. The program is financed through the association’s annual scholarship tournament and dinner, several memorial scholarships and TCJGA scholarship donors.

TCJGA members are eligible to apply for college scholarships if they are a graduating high school senior or current college student and have been an active participating member of the TCJGA for four or more consecutive years.

Scholarship winners include:

Traverse City Junior Golf Association Herb Domres Memorial Scholarship: Bear Lake’s Bryson Waller, who will attend Ferris State University.

Traverse City Junior Golf Association Stefan Schofield Memorial Scholarship: Traverse City’s Riley Boyd, who is currently attending Kalamazoo College.

Traverse City Junior Golf Association Bob Robinson Memorial Scholarship: Traverse City’s Courtney Dye, who is currently attending Indiana Institute of Technology.

Traverse City Junior Golf Association Steve White Memorial Scholarship: Novi’s Todd Goebel, who is currently attending Belmont Abbey College.

Traverse City Junior Golf Association Jonkhoff Family Scholarship: Traverse City’s Brady Greenman, who is currently attending Michigan State University.

Traverse City Junior Golf Association Scott C. Cook Memorial Scholarship: Traverse City’s Cameron Murray, who is currently attending College of the Holy Cross.

Traverse City Junior Golf Association Larry R. Kinney Memorial Scholarship: Traverse City’s Payden Myers, who is currently attending Michigan State University.

Traverse City Junior Golf Association Mike Teter Memorial Scholarship: Traverse City’s Ryan Sievers, who is currently attending Northwestern Michigan College.

Recipients will be honored at the TCJGA Scholarship Tournament and Dinner on Monday, July 28, at the Traverse City Golf & Country Club.
