Prep Sports Roundup: Trojans top Alpena, 5-1

TRAVERSE CITY — Jalyna Cisneros scored a hat trick, and also contributed an assist in Traverse City Central’s 5-1 victory over Alpena.

Cisneros had the lone Trojan goal of the first half as Central (4-6, 3-3 Big North) took a 1-0 lead into the break. She then scored twice more in a second half that was dominated by the Trojans. Sierra Fraser and Lily Stackable had the other Central goals. Jennifer Rose had two assists, and Katie Ludwig and Ally Wuerfel also had assists.

Alpena (1-6, 1-5) broke the shutout with 1:17 remaining in the game on a goal from Isabelle O’Neil, with Morgan Allen assisting.

Lindsey Round and Cara Ferguson led the Trojans’ defense.

Abby Weckler made two saves in goal for Central, which plays at Petoskey on Thursday.

The Central junior varsity won 5-0 over the Wildcats.

Meghan Puckett, Dana Pflughoeft, Katie Ferguson, Greta Groothius and Maggie Dupuie scored for Central. Brittany Collins had two assists and Isabell Wejrowski one. Stevie Herbers was in goal.

Alpena 0

Devin Dotterrer won her 100th match during Traverse City Central’s 8-0 win over Alpena.

Central won each flight 8-0, except at No. 2, where Dotterrer and Abby Palisin won 8-2. Singles winners for the Trojans were: Paige Cooley, Christi Druskovich, Kitty Mast and Taylor Weckstein. The other doubles winners were Amelia Pezzetti-Elizabeth Pappas, Molly Whiting-Isabel Lutz and Caroline Gardner-Angela Amalfitano.

The Traverse City Central JV won three singles flights en route to a 5-3 win over Alpena.

Victorious for the Trojans: Emma Sheldon (8-5), Alex Schweitzer (8-5), Sage Ringsmuth (8-1), Jane Leahy-Melissa Lance (8-6) and Taylor Robbins-Carly Hernden (8-4).


TC Thunder 16

Cadillac 4

Jack Brewer netted six goals as the TC Thunder beat Cadillac 16-4.

Chris Bennett and Ellis Begley added two goals for the Thunder (4-0), who face the Bayhawks on Thursday. Chris Chang, Zak Collins, Ted Okerstrom, Andrew Machelski, John Leaming and Sam Weckler also tallied. Mitch Wynkoop had six saves in goal.
