TC East All-Stars win district title

BOYNE CITY — The Traverse City East Little League All-Stars won their district championship Saturday with a 7-5 victory over Gaylord.

The team now moves on to the state tournament, which starts Friday in Ishpeming.

Pitcher Tyler Smith closed out Saturday's victory, while Dylan Liggett hit a home run and Keaton Peck, Josh Bradfield and Artie Dutmers were other stand-outs.

12 honored at GT Tennis Camps

TRAVERSE CITY — Six athletes were honored for their play in the second session of the Grand Traverse Tennis Camps that recently wrapped up.

In the first group, Coco Pampu and Ellis Wunch were champions, while Austin Gibson and Quincy Davis took home the honors in the second group. Nick Sommerfield won the excellence award and Annika Lintzedt took the varsity award.

In the camp's first session, Anna Breederland, Jack Myers, Carson Bourdo and Natalie Bourdo were champs, while Elliot Smith won excellent honors and Mitch Winowiecki the varsity award.

A new session starts Monday, and spots are still open. Players can participate by printing out the registration forms at www.tctenniscamps.com and bringing them to Monday's sessions. One goes from 8:30-10 a.m. and the other from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
