Kinsler to replace Martinez as All-Star

Detroit Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler will replace teammate Victor Martinez on the American League roster for the All-Star Game.

Martinez missed his sixth consecutive game Friday with right side soreness.

In his first season with the Tigers, Kinsler is now an All-Star for the fourth time. He is hitting .305 with 11 homers, 49 RBI, 26 doubles, nine steals and 64 runs. Kinsler joins teammates Miguel Cabrera and Max Scherzer on the A.L.’s roster.
