MARION, Ill. — Southern Illinois is on the verge of a series sweep against Traverse City, winning 7-4 Saturday.

Yazy Arbelo — who had three hits for the second straight night — belted a solo home run in the second. Arbelo also drove in Jeff DeBlieux with a single in the fourth.
Chris Cowell hit a solo homer in the fifth and Rob Benedict plated DeBlieux in the sixth with a sacrifice fly after DeBlieux led off the frame with a triple.
DeBlieux also had three hits for TC, while Cowell added two.
Sean Gusrang returned to the lineup for the first time since suffering a separated shoulder June 7.
Ryan Cavan and Tyler Booth had two hits each for Southern Illinois. The Miners roughed up Beach Bums starter Casey Delgado, who had allowed more than three earned runs just once in seven starts this season. He surrendered seven runs — only two of which were earned, due to three Beach Bums errors — on seven hits and four walks in six innings, striking out three. Chuck Ghysels worked two scoreless innings in relief, striking out five.
Rick Teasley earned the victory, allowing three runs in five innings. The teams close out the three-game set today at 6 p.m. at Rent One Park.
