JOLIET, Ill. — Traverse City outfielder Shaun Cooper was officially placed on the 7-day disabled list on Tuesday and the Beach Bums filled his roster spot by bringing in outfielder Casey Roche.
Cooper was injured during Sunday's game against the Frontier Greys, appearing to re-injure the same left knee that cost him all of the 2013 season. He will have an MRI done on Thursday to find out the extent of the injury.
Roche, an outfielder, was with the Beach Bums on Tuesday and available for the scheduled game against Joliet, but the game was postponed until today due to rain. The first game of a scheduled doubleheader is set for 6 p.m.
"It's still pouring," Rohn said late Tuesday. "It's been absolutely pouring. It started at 2 p.m. and hasn't stopped. I don't know if we're going to be able to play tomorrow."
Roche played with the University of Pittsburgh, where he led the Panthers with a .272 average. He collected 11 doubles, scored 26 runs and drove in 30 runs. As a junior in 2013, the Downingtown, Penn. native was named to the All-Big East first team.
