TRAVERSE CITY — The seventh annual Tackling TS Golf Classic will be held Saturday at Elmbrook Golf Course.
There will be 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. shotgun start times. The cost is $60. The event includes a luncheon. Golfers can register at www.tacklingts.org.
The goal of the tournament is to raise awareness and funds for the fight against Tuberous Sclerosis, a genetic disorder that causes tumors to form in many different organs. The disease affects some people severely.
The golf classic was started by Traverse City West football Tim Wooer and his wife Kate. Their son Tyler was diagnosed with TS in 2003.
The Tackling TS Charity will be cutting a check for $15,000 to ensure all children with TS can attend a summer camp in Cincinnati free of charge. Also, money will be given to a young girl afflicted with TS to allow he family to purchase equipment to help with the development of her motor skills. Money will also be given to the TS Alliance to help further research.
Former West football player, and current Detroit Lions lineman, Darren Keyton will be the featured speaker.
