TRAVERSE CITY — Five area softball players earned first-team All-State honors from the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association.
Onaway had two of those five in sisters Megan (second base) and Emily (pitcher) Estep in Division 4. They were joined by Frankfort second baseman Courtney Bower in Division 4, Charlevoix’s Skyler Herriman in Division 3 and Cadillac shortstop Mary Emington in Division 2.
Cheboygan’s Aspen Williams was a Division 2 honorable mention choice, while Manistee shortstop Megan Vanderweele, Boyne City third baseman Paige Hornbeck, Charlevoix catcher Katherine Hybl and Manistee hurler Haley Maser were D-3 picks. In Division 4, honorable mention honors went to Frankfort outfielder Katie Gokey, Mancelona shortstop Dakota Derrer, Frankfort third baseman Keelan Kelly, Mesick first baseman Rachel Robinson, Onaway catcher Sam Brasseur, Bellaire catcher Katie Thornton and Frankfort pitcher Aleah Hunt.
