Manton’s Baron qualifies for NAIA championships

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Davenport senior Stacey Baron became only the second women’s cross country runner to qualify for the NAIA Championships.

Baron, a Manton native, received an at-large bid Monday to the NAIA Championships held in Lawrence, Kan., on Nov. 23.

Baron was awarded a ticket the national meet after placing 10th at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships last Saturday.

In the five meets this season, Baron has clocked under the 20-minute barrier in all of them. She set a new school record time of 19:07.7 at the Bethel College Invitational last month.

Baron was named a track All-American in the 5x800 event after finishing sixth in the indoor race, while placing 10th in the outdoor.
