---- — TRAVERSE CITY — Marquette's winning streak ended abruptly.
Traverse City West shut down the Redettes Wednesday to notch a 39-34 Class A playoff victory that allows the Titans to host the district finals Friday against Gaylord.
"This was a terrific win," West coach Dave Ginsberg said. "That was a very good team."
Marquette (18-3) had won five in a row, including Monday's 53-46 district win over Big North Conference champion Petoskey.
Katie Placek not only scored 19 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and hit 11 of 13 free throws, but also shut down Marquette's leading scorer. Hunter Viitala, who scored 21 in an eight-point Redettes win over West in the regular season, was limited to eight Wednesday.
Paris Wagner added nine points and eight rebounds for the Titans (10-12).
Morgan Selbert led Marquette with 12 points.
TC Central 	42
Gaylord moved on to the Class A district finals Friday at Traverse City West with a 53-42 win over Traverse City Central.
The Blue Devils (12-9) will face the host Titans.
Gaylord jumped out to an 18-4 lead after the first quarter, and the Trojans chipped away at that lead.
"We were just fighting back the whole game," Central coach Ryan Knudsen said. "We kept fighting back, but unfortunately came up on the short end."
Mackenzie Edwards scored 22 points and Sarah Polena 12 for Gaylord.
Tyler Rawlings led the Trojans (5-15) with 16 and Madi Bankey added nine.
Kelli Guy had 25 points by halftime in Kalkaska's 72-37 Class B district semifinal victory over Roscommon.
Guy knocked down seven 3-pointers in the first half alone, and ended up with 33 points, six assists and six steals.
The Blazers (17-3) host the district final Friday against Ogemaw Heights, which beat Cheboygan 46-27.
Tabitha Kibby added 10 points, Taylor Kibby seven, Taylor Birgy six and Elle Barber five assists and three steals.
Lake Leelanau SM 	48
Felicia Whittaker's running lay-up with five seconds left gave Leland a dramatic 50-48 win over Class D district host Lake Leelanau St. Mary's.
Libby Munoz led the Comets (9-13) with 17 points and Caitlin McKee added 14.
St. Mary's was led by Rachael Thon's 13 and 12 by Abby Thon. Leland's Maggie Osorio was instrumental in holding Rachael Thon to two points in the second half.
The Comets advance to Friday's district final against Suttons Bay.
Suttons Bay 	59
GT Academy 	44
Delaney Kaufman scored 12 points and hauled in 22 rebounds to lead Suttons Bay to a 59-44 Class D district win over Grand Traverse Academy.
Jane Hursey added 18 points for the Norse (4-16), who play Leland in Friday's title game at Lake Leelanau St. Mary's. Leland topped Suttons Bay in both regular-season meetings.
Tiffany Wright scored 24 points for the Mustangs (3-14).
Gaylord St. Mary 	71
Gaylord St. Mary junior Kari Borowiak went over the career 1,000-point mark in a 71-35 Class D district semifinal win over Ellsworth.
Borowiak had 23 points, six rebounds and three assists to finish the game with 1,001 career points.
Chrissy Smith added 13 points, seven assists and seven steals and Bekah Myler scored 10 points for the Snowbirds (20-2), who host Central Lake at 7 p.m. Friday in the district final. The Trojans beat Alba 61-26.
Kari Steenwyk led Ellsworth (10-10) with 15 points.
Bear Lake 	56
Forest Area 	36
Bear Lake pulled away with a third-quarter surge to register a 56-36 Class D district win over Forest Area.
Hannah Harrington led the Lakers with 20 points.
For Forest Area (5-14), Emily Gonyer had 13 points, five steals and five assists, Cari Campbell added six points and three steals, Kourtni Birgy had five points and nine rebounds and Lindsey Czuk grabbed eight boards.
Bear Lake hosts Frankfort in Friday's district final.
For the second straight game, the Kelly sisters led Frankfort to a district basketball win.
After combining to score 36 points in a 46-35 over Onekama on Monday, the siblings scored 27 in a 48-42 victory against Buckley.
Frankfort rallied from a 34-29 deficit after three quarters on the strength of a 14-0 run late in the fourth quarter.
Jordyn Barley scored 13, Bailee Kuhn 12 and Marlee Harris 10 for the Bears.
Frankfort (13-9) plays district host Bear Lake in Friday's final.
Manistee Catholic 	45
Haley Doyle led Manistee Catholic Central to a 45-36 victory over Brethren and a Class D district finals appearance.
Doyle had 28 points, 15 rebounds and three assists for the Sabers (19-2), who play Pentwater in Friday's district title game at Mason County Eastern. Hannah Janicki added seven points.
Manistee CC led 21-17 at halftime, but erupted for a 14-4 third quarter to take control.
Lexi Lakso scored 12 and Anne McNeil 10 for Brethren.
McBain did what was expected in its Class C district semifinal at Pine River, outscoring Harrison 69-55 to advance to Friday's finals against the Bucks, who prevailed in their semifinal over Manton.
Sophomore guard Meredith Hamlet hit for a game-high 27 points with 10 assists for a double-double to pace the Ramblers (13-7). Hamlet drained two treys and hit 7-of-8 from the line.
Junior guard Maddie Barnette tallied 12 and freshman forward Asia LaGrow came off the bench to score 11 with six rebounds and five assists.
Senior Kate Overmyer added seven.
Allison Lipovsky paced the Hornets with 18 and Erica Heckman hit for 12.
McBain lost twice to Pine River (19-1) during the regular season. Tip off for the district finals is 7 p.m.
Pine River 	62
Pine River stormed to a 26-0 lead in the first six minutes en route to a 62-22 victory over Manton in the Class C district semifinal hosted by the Bucks.
Senior guard Jamie Justin scored 20 to pace the Bucks (19-1), who won their 19th straight game after losing their season opener. Sophomore Kassy Nelson hit for 14.
Sophomore forward Karrah Baker tallied 11 for the Rangers (6-16).
