Fisherman lands 44-inch pike

LEELANAU COUNTY — A 44.25-inch, 20-pound northern pike was hauled in by Leonard Darga from south Lake Leelanau in the mid-morning hours of Jan. 14, using a tip-up and live bait.

It was Leonard and Kathy Darga's first time fishing out on the ice this season, and the pike took the bait soon after the line had been set. Fur-Fish-Game Taxidermy in Lake Leelanau will mount the trophy.
