TRAVERSE CITY — TC Central scored four times in the third period Saturday for a 6-1 Big North Conference win over Gaylord.
Nico Saco had a goal and two assists for the Trojans (14-2, 6-0 BNC) while Jon Russell and Alex Oliver each had a power-play goal. Cam Givens and Mitchell Ward each had a goal and an assist while Derek Schrank had an unassisted goal.
Cooper Macdonell had two assists while Alder and Alec Round had one. Michael Wittersheim made 12 saves for the win.
Anthony Tomaski scored for Gaylord while Sam Black had the assist.
TC Central plays rival TC West on Wednesday.
TC West 3 Big Rapids 3
TC West played to a 3-3 tie against Big Rapids at Ferris State's Ewigleben Arena.
The Titans (5-10-2) trailed 2-1 going into the third period, but tied the game off a Trevor Franklin goal from Colin Peters. Later in the period, TC West took a 3-2 lead off a Max Jenner goal from Dan Henderson and goalie Brendan Lacharite, but Big Rapids tied it with 4 minutes left in the game.
Jeff Linenger scored in the first period off a face-off from his brother, John Linenger.
Lacharite made 34 saves for the Titans.
Midland 45 TC Central 41
Host Midland held off TC Central's rally for a 45-41 win.
The Trojans (2-8) trailed 21-15 at half, but came back to get within two points late.
Taylor Cook had 10 points for TC Central while Ethan Pilarski had nine points, nine rebounds, five steals and five assists. Ty DeJong led the Chemics with 11 points.
Midland won the JV game 69-55 and the freshman contest 46-31. TC Central had 15 points from Dan Brott in the JV game.
Mancelona wins own invite
Mancelona went 5-0 on the day to win its own invitational.
The Ironmen had a 5-0 record from Michael Meadows (135), Tristan Waters (215) and Keegan Richardson (285) while Cody Fuller (103) and Caleb Nygren (112) were 4-1. Tevin Nygren (152) and Micah Burrows (160) went 3-2.
TC Central skiers win at Grayling
TC Central's Erin Lipp and Eivind Kragebakk won titles at the Cote Dame Marie 6K freestyle race in Grayling.
Lipp won in 22:14, ahead of Sarah Goble from East Lansing (22:34).
Kragebakk won in 21:02. Ian Durand from Interlochen was second (21:04) and TC Central's Kyle Dotterrer was third (22:11).
TC Christian earns win No. 9
Jon Tuck's 245 game and Sam Anthony's 214 game led TC Christian's Maroon to their ninth win, a 30-0 victory over TC Prep.
TC West Green also stayed unbeaten by blanking Benzie 30-0. Titans Sawyer Robinson (191 game) and Ben Mohrhardt (187) led them in their win.
Leading the girls divisions are TC West Green and Glen Lake. TC West Green beat Benzie 30-0. Lexi Fortin led the Titans in the win with a 168 game. Glen Lake pulled a mild upset by beating TC Central 22-8.
Rounding out the girl's division, TC West Gold beat Kingsley 27- 3. Bellaire beat the vacant position.
Finishing the boys division, Elk Rapids beat Glen Lake 30-0. Jacob Fedrigon led the Elks with a 339 two game series. Bellaire's Nick Betten's 237 game helped them earn a 19-11 win over St. Francis. TC Central Black beat TC West Gold 16-14. Trojans Brad Wozniak's 389 two game series, Mitchell Mosley (203 game) and Keith Wise (186 game) all bowled well in the win.
Titan Jordan Newstead had a 369 series in the loss. Kingsley's Matt Dodson had a 201 game in a 26-4 loss to Elk Rapids Black. TC West White beat TC Prep 28.5-1.5. TC Christian Gold beat TC Central Gold 30-0. TC West White beat the vacant position.
