Dingman knocks down three big free throws

JOHANNESBURG — Brandon Dingman knocked down three free throws in overtime to lead Mancelona to a 66-64 overtime Ski Valley Conference boys basketball victory Thursday over Johannesburg-Lewiston to keep the Ironmen undefeated in league play.

And that's not all Dingman did.

Partially on the strength of 11-for-15 shooting from the charity stripe, he scored 41 points and added 13 rebounds.

Logan Borst chipped in 10 points, five rebounds and three assists for the Ironmen (7-2, 6-0 SVC), who host Inland Lakes on Tuesday before traveling Friday to Bellaire for a matchup of the Ski Valley's two top teams.

Logan Huff scored 18 to lead Joburg, while Jacob Newell and Cameron Nickert each had 16.

BOYS HOOPS

Bellaire      75 Onaway      30

Bellaire scored more points by halftime than Onaway would end up with for the whole game in a 75-30 Ski Valley Conference win.

The Eagles (7-0, 5-0 SVC) were up 48-19 at halftime.

Mitch Teetzel had 18 points and 11 rebounds, Tyler Thornton scored 21 points and Drew Bailey added 13 points for Bellaire, which hosts Mancelona next Friday.

Joe O'Bradovich and Jason Sigsby led Onaway with nine points each.

Inland Lakes      46 Gaylord St. Mary      45

Inland Lakes pulled out a close 46-45 Ski Valley Conference victory over Gaylord St. Mary.

Dakota Davedowski led the Bulldogs with 22 points.

Kingsley      59 Leland      50

No Kingsley player hit double digits, but the Stags were still able to pull out a 59-50 Northwest Conference victory over an injury-depleted Leland squad.

Austin Olson and Tyler Case had nine points each for Kingsley.

Ian Duvall had 19 and Tyler Leveque 18 for Leland, which was without injured standouts A.J. Whittaker and Dylan Jolliffe.

The Comets (3-4, 2-3 NWC) travel Thursday to Suttons Bay.

Frankfort      71 Suttons Bay      63

David Loney had a double-double to lead No. 7-ranked Frankfort to a 71-63 win over Suttons Bay to set up a showdown of undefeated Northwest Conference team next week.

Loney had 20 points and 14 rebounds, while Brandon Schaub had 18 points and Owen Stratton 17.

The Panthers (8-0, 5-0 NWC) host Glen Lake (9-1, 5-0) on Thursday, with a date with Manistee Catholic in between Monday.
