Northmen move on in Division 2

MIDLAND — Petoskey advanced to the Division 2 regional finals with a 4-1 victory over Goodrich on Tuesday at Midland.

The Northmen will face No. 4-ranked East Lansing in Saturday's 5 p.m. regional final in Midland that follows a 1 p.m. football playoff game between Midland and Marquette on the same artificial turf field.

Louie Lamberti gave the Northmen a 1-0 lead with a score in the 15th minute of play before the Martians knotted it back up on a long Danny Garr goal.

Petoskey went up 2-1 on Anthony Hoffman penalty kick with 36:07 remaining after Goodrich was whistled for a hand ball in the box.

The Northmen took a 3-1 lead on Lamberti's goal set up by Hoffman with 31:31 left in second half. Lamberti chipped the ball over Goodrich goalie David Doherty after Hoffman forced a turnover.
