Girls Basketball Roundup: Petoskey clinches share of BNC

PETOSKEY — Petoskey clinched at least a share of the Big North Conference girls basketball title Friday with a 53-25 win over Ogemaw Heights.

Petoskey (16-2 overall) has won 13 in a row and is now 10-1 in the league with one Big North contest remaining.

Kelsey Ance paced Friday's win with 22 points and seven rebounds. Megan Tompkins chipped in 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Marci Meier scored eight points for Ogemaw.

Petoskey hosts Sault Ste. Marie on Tuesday and then Alpena on Friday.

Gaylord     41 TC West     27

Gaylord picked up a 41-27 Big North Conference win over TC West.

Mackenzie Edwards led the Blue Devils with 25 points. Kiley Kreple had 10 points for the Titans (7-11, 7-4 BNC) while Paris Wagner had eight points and 14 rebounds.

Gaylord won the JV game 31-29. TC West had 14 points from Jodi Turnquist and 10 rebounds from Erica Whiting.

The Titans won the freshman game 37-15 behind nine points from Talia Polmann.

West hosts Manistee on Monday.

Manistee      49 TC Central     42

Manistee held off TC Central for a 49-42 non-conference victory.

The Chippewas (10-7) had 15 points from Emily Thompson. Tyler Rawlings had 19 points for the Trojans (4-12) while Madi Bankey had 12 points.

The Trojans won the JV game 47-31 behind 11 points each from Ashley Reed and Kelsey Acton.

Central is back in action Tuesday, hosting Midland.

The Trojans face West on Thursday in a regular season finale.

Kalkaska      51 Elk Rapids      26

Kelli Guy scored 30 points as Kalkaska posted a 51-26 Lake Michigan Conference victory over Elk Rapids.

Guy added six assists and four steals in the victory. Tabitha Kibby contributed eight points, four assists. Alexis Hayden pulled down 10 rebounds. Taylor Birgy finished with six points and six rebounds.

Rachel Hintz and Celsey White scored eight each for the Elks (10-7, 7-5).

Kalkaska (13-3, 7-1 LMC) hosts Charlevoix in a make-up game on Monday.

St. Francis     61 East Jordan     30

St. Francis got off to another strong start in upending East Jordan 61-30 in a Lake Michigan Conference clash.

The Gladiators (16-2, 11-1) led 38-17 at half.

Liza Erickson led the Gladiators with 16 points. Anne Lyman added 12.

St. Francis hosts Elk Rapids on Monday.
